Last sunday, Theresa and I went to the BIENNALE! Finally, after we were 'coerced' to go there since it was the last day of the exhibition and also since two years later, we'll be preparing for a levels =(. Thank God, there were fewer last-minute visitors than expected. hahas. However, I realised that one ticket entitles you to a compliment Biennale Guide, yet the two of us were only given one guide. groans.
This year's biennale was less gory and scary (no more PG exhibits) than the last, but I think it was on a smaller scale. There were no freebies like the 2006's series of badges, but we had free ice cream - Andersens of Denmark! We approached the person asking how much it cost for a cup and she almost burst out laughing at us. -_-. There were no choices and we had to eat strawberries & cream (what we don't like), yet when we finished, she started distributing chocolate ice cream (what we love).
Theresa loves:
Operation Supermarket by Moshiri and Aliabadi, 2006.
The digital manipulation is great and the play of words appear fun, yet after viewing the entire series of images, one can understand the underlying critique the artists have of our modern world.
I love:
Tetorama II: War of the Worlds, 2008 Wow, aliens are invading city hall. The white blobs are really fascinating, and the alien figures look like superheroes.
